Back at Shahzir's throne, spent and still cursed, the party found warm pools sunk into the stone and lowered themselves in one at a time, half expecting the water to be a last trap. Instead the Mummy Lord's curse sloughed off Momeline and Dravencoles, and their wounds closed.
They exited past the helpful stone guardians of the Temple of the Sun and into the basement of Shahzir's Library, finding it turned inside out. Selene Anvari was waiting invisible in the wreckage and let them know there were guards waiting for them outside. Lirielle and Momeline plotted an illusion of the party slipping out invisible, and while the guards chased nothing, they walked into the street. A woman on a rooftop shouted them out anyway. Landor emptied his Alchemy Jug across the cobbles in a slick of mayonnaise, Momeline put an arrow through the informant's hat, and the party lost the guards in the alleys.
They ran for the Colosseum, where the swearing-in had already begun, and an explosion off their route stopped them. Momeline and Talan went to look and found a hole blown through the Shady Palm Inn's floor. She dropped into the tunnels below, found bodies in the dark, and sent Talan back for the others. Alone, she took a poison arrow from a trap and held on until he returned with a cure.
Above, Ferinthria cast seeming over the whole group: Anvari as a senator to warn Colosseum attendees, the party as city guards, and Ferinthria herself as a captain whose name carried weight. The men ringing the inn were Lowwater thugs in stolen uniforms, and rather than face that captain, they attacked. The party cut through them, then through a far more dangerous assassin inside, who landed enough blows that Dravencoles burned the last of his lay on hands keeping himself upright.
They descended and found Momeline. The tunnels toward the Colosseum were seamed with traps. Dravencoles climbed ahead with Landor's shield on his back to block the arrows while the others tight-roped across. When Lirielle slipped on one rope, Dravencoles caught her and threw her clear.
The far end opened a secret passage to the halls beneath the Colosseum, where Tassir and Mira stood over the weapon taken from the Oasis Vault. There were a few words, and then Dravencoles charged and Mira was ready for him. Her magic and Tassir's poisoned arrows nearly put the paladin down. As she approached death, Mira spoke "Ela" to open the device, but Dravencoles answered "Elatar" and slammed it shut before delivering a killing blow he had been dreaming about for weeks. The others finished Tassir.
Dying, Tassir closed his fist on the slaad control crystal and crushed it. Screaming broke out in the stands above. Momeline forced healing potions down Dravencoles' throat, and the party turned toward the noise, exhausted but ready for another fight.
