Description
A gaunt, wind-burned, distinctly homely man in his late thirties, with a long crooked nose, a weak receding chin, thin colourless lips and close-cropped graying hair over a high balding forehead. His dark eyes never quite settle, and his whole face is set in an anxious, hunted expression, brows drawn up and mouth tight, like a man expecting bad news. His fingertips and lower lip are stained a faint silvery-blue from the powder he handles daily. He dresses in a faded Solaran alchemist's coat, patched at the elbows and powdered with desert dust.
Personality
Silas is brilliant and very aware of it. He is charming in short bursts and paranoid in long ones, convinced he is the smartest person for a hundred miles and usually right about it. Weeks of sleeping badly and sampling his own product have frayed him, he sees patterns in the sand, finishes other people's sentences wrong, and laughs at the wrong moments.
Story
The party met Silas in his wagon at the edge of the desert in Session 39 - The Saint and the Dreamer, where he revealed he was hunting Khasim's Crown and could not reach one particular stretch of the dunes no matter how he tried.
In Session 43 - The Empty Chest, six guards dragged Silas into Mama's trial at the forum as the first foreigner to be executed. The party cut him free and fled with him before the sentence could fall.
Background
Silas trained as an alchemist in Solaris and spent most of his career producing respectable remedies for respectable clients. Somewhere along the way the money from respectable work stopped being enough, and he began supplementing it with small batches of harder compounds sold quietly through the Solaris underground.
