Description

Sahri Nightwater is a lean, sun-browned Khaladi woman with quick, assessing dark eyes that seem to price every visitor as they walk through the door. She wears a dusk-blue keffiyeh wound around her head and shoulders over a fitted travel coat in muted indigo and tan, leather straps for caravan kit looped across her chest. A sun-compass hangs at her belt; a coil of fine rope is always within arm's reach.

Personality

Sharp, direct, and unsentimental. Sahri talks like she's mid-negotiation even when she isn't, and she enjoys the back-and-forth. She is genuinely glad when a customer leaves with the right gear for their route, and quietly furious when she sees a caravaneer walk out with someone else's sloppy work. She drinks black coffee, holds her cards close, and has friends in every Sirocco Warden barracks in the city.

Background

Sahri runs Nightwater Exchange in the Khasim's Crown shopping district, the largest general-goods house in the city — waterskins, tents, ropes, desert kits, sun-compasses, and the clearance of trade permits for outbound caravans. She came to Khasim's Crown two decades ago as the sole survivor of a Lusterian caravan that lost its way in the deep dunes, was admitted as a foreign resident, and built the Exchange from a single cart. She knows every active warrant route by heart and which Magister to bribe with what (information, never coin).
